Protectus Mould Killer spray is a scientifically formulated antimicrobial treatment designed to eliminate and inhibit mould (fungal) growth on a wide range of surfaces.
The formulation acts through a multi-stage mechanism targeting spores, vegetative structures, and sub-surface root networks.
Once applied and dried, a residual active film remains on the treated surface, providing ongoing protection against recontamination.
Stage 1: Spore Neutralisation
Upon application, Protectus Mould Killer™ immediately targets airborne and surface-deposited mould spores (conidia).
The active components chemically disrupt spore membranes, reducing spore viability and preventing germination.
This initial stage mitigates the potential for further fungal propagation and colonisation.
Stage 2: Structural Degradation
The formulation penetrates the fungal sporangium and sporangiophore, the reproductive and structural organs responsible for growth and sporulation.
Disruption of these structures compromises the organism’s ability to reproduce and sustain colony formation.
This stage effectively halts the progression of existing mould colonies.
Stage 3: Sub-Surface Penetration and Root Eradication
Protectus Mould Killer™ permeates porous substrates to reach the mycelial network (the root system of the mould, also called Hyphae).
By penetrating these deeper layers, the active compounds inhibit metabolic activity at the source of the infestation.
This ensures removal beyond the visible surface layer and reduces recurrence risk under typical environmental conditions.
Residual Activity
After drying, Protectus Mould Killer™ forms a microfilm containing active antimicrobial agents that remain bonded to the substrate. This residual activity provides prolonged inhibition of mould regrowth.

Effectiveness compared to bleach
Our water based formulation for Protectus Mould Killer™ is more effective than bleach for mould control because it penetrates porous surfaces and the mould’s root structures, whereas bleach primarily acts on the surface.
Unlike bleach, which can evaporate quickly and may leave mould roots intact, a water-based formulation remains active after drying, providing long-lasting inhibition of regrowth without the harsh fumes or corrosive effects associated with bleach.
